Name: Margra
Home Hold: Harper Hall, Huryen Island
Rank: Journeyman 2 Harper
Age: 27
Fire-lizards: Captain (bronze)
Other Animal Companions: none
Appearance: She stands five feet four inches in height and is of average build. Very mundane in every physical way if not for her pale skin and white hair that mark her unusual from the rest of the islander population. But then again, even she was considered different at her home in Fort. Yet, this distinction has also given her a very unique allure. That is if you can ignore the scowl that seem to constantly adorn her heart-shaped face. She has piercing upturned ice blue eyes with short lashes and thin brows. She has a small nose and lips that are slightly thicker at the bottom. Her wavy silver hair reaches all the way to the middle of her back and she constantly keeps it tightly plaited. Like all harpers, she is dressed in soft robes of blue with the required knots that display her rank. She also never walks out the door without a cloak to shield her from sunlight.
Personality: prideful, taciturn, authoritarian, a perfectionist to make up for her insecurities, has great organizational skills but horrible communication skills, easily gets frustrated, average singer, competent instrumentalist (prefers the recorder), has a great memory and is known for her mastery of the history of PERN, has an aversion to sunlight due to skin conditions resulting from being an albino but loves the nighttime outdoors, is most creative at night (an insomniac), spends days in the archive room reading, can pen beautiful verses but has no talent in putting music to words, has a soft spot for helpless children, wanted to be a queen rider like her twin sister.
History: She spent the first few years of her life living with her family on-board her father’s various merchant ships that traded in various ports all-over the Erdan Archipelago, the southern continent, and some selected ports in the Northern and Western Continents. She was a very sickly child, however, and as soon as they were old enough, she and her twin were sent to live with her mother’s family at Fort Hold. For several years, they attended lessons at the Harper Hall in disciplines such as reading, writing, singing, and playing the harp.
A few days after their ninth birthday, both twins were searched, but she was not able to impress a dragon because she collapsed and lost consciousness in all the haste at the start of the hatching. Because of this incident, she was declared unable to cope with the physical demands of being a rider. She could not take this and so she opted to go back to Fort Hold where the Harper Hall gladly accepted her into their fold. The disappointment and frustration drove her to perfectionism and this propelled her quickly through the ranks, winning the esteem of many of her teachers. However, her ordinariness in terms of singing and playing has prevented her from achieving the level beyond Journeyman 2.
One day, she received a letter from the Masterharper (who was away at the time on business) to meet him at the other Harper Hall at Huryen Island. With nary a question or doubt, she set forth with her cloak in one hand, a bag of supplies and instruments on her back, and her fire-lizard perched on her shoulder.
Family Connections: Grew up in a merchant family of four children. Her father, Mirron, is a fourth generation trader while her mother, Grazel, is the youngest daughter of a holder. Her eldest sister, Grazette, is two years her senior and is married to an associate of their father’s. Her twin sister, Mirrela, is a queen rider and their younger brother, Gron, (fifteen years their junior) has recently impressed a brown.
Age: 14 years
Appearance: Though classified as a bronze, he is everywhere a metallic dark reddish brown that blazes like fire when struck by light. He has a solid, sinewy build with long powerful wings.
Personality: Much like a ship's captain, he commands authority. He is regal and imperious towards those he considers subordinate to himself. Despite this, he is sweet and lovable towards those he sees as part of his intimate circle. He is jealously protective of his mistress to the point that he does not allow her to leave the Harper Hall without him.
